Using RefWorks with Web Of Science
Unlike many of our other databases,Web of Science does not offer a direct export option to RefWorks. Here's how to export your search results:
In Web of Science:
- Select desired records, then click Add to Marked List.
- When finished, go to the Marked List screen. The tab for this screen appears near the top navigation bar.
- In the first portion of the form, select the fields you'd like included.
- In the second portion of the form, select the option "Field Tagged". Then, use the drop down window under Other Reference Software to display "Plain Text" and finish by clicking on Save to File. You can rename the file from the default "savedrecs.txt", but be sure to retain the .txt extension.
- Open RefWorks
In RefWorks:
- Under References, select "Import".
- Select "ISI (Institute for Scientific Information)" as the Import Filter/Data Source
- Select "Web of Science" as the Database.
- You may select a RefWorks folder for the items to be read into. References will also be put automatically into the Last Imported folder, so it is not necessary to make a selection at this time.
- Use the Browse button to locate the .txt file you saved.
- Click on Import and wait for the magic to happen.
