RefWorks - if the conversion doesn't work
Sometimes converting a RefWorks account to use the Network ID results not in an account conversion, but in the creation of a new account. If this happens to you, you can get the references from your current/old RefWorks account and restore them to the new account that was created. To do so:
- Access RefWorks using this link (from on-campus only).
- Log in using your "old" RefWorks account information.
- From either the Tools or the References menu select Backup/Restore.
- Click Perform Backup.
- Save the file.
- Log out of RefWorks.
Note: the next part of this process involves restoring the file you just saved to the "new" account. Doing so will wipe out any references you may have entered into this account. If you entered new references immediately after the account conversion process, export these new references first, then restore the data from your "old" account to your "new" account, and then import the new references.
- Access RefWorks using this link.
- From either the Tools or the References menu select Backup/Restore.
- Select the Restore option.
- Browse to the back-up file you created in Step 5.
- Select Include References, Include Output Styles and Include RSS Feeds.
- Click Perform Restore.
