Research Practices Survey

The fifteen-minute online questionnaire is designed to assess students’ experiences, beliefs, and proficiencies in conducting academic research. The survey, administered by the Higher Education Data Sharing Consortium (HEDS), was created by librarians, faculty, IT staff, and students from several liberal arts colleges and universities.

The survey is distributed to the first year students at Lafayette in the fall prior to any college level instruction in research to find out what research skills and experience students come to Lafayette with. In spring 2009 and spring 2012, the same class was surveyed again to see how students' skills have changed and improved through First Year Seminar and over their four years at Lafayette.

If you would like to learn more about the survey and/or discuss the survey results, please contact Lijuan Xu at xul@lafayette.edu or 610.330.5152.
