Lafayette alumni and members of the Easton community are welcome to use Skillman and Kirby Libraries and their resources. Internet access is available on a limited number of "Quick Lookup" computers in Skillman Library, but access to the majority of computers is restricted to current Lafayette students and employees. Quick Lookup computers offer Web browser applications but no document creation or editing applications. Printing is not available.
The campus wireless network is restricted to Lafayette employees and students and their invited guests.
Borrowing privileges are not generally available to community users, but an annual membership in the Friends of Skillman Library group at or above the $75 contribution level provides borrowing privileges for the duration of the membership term. Due to licensing restrictions, membership in the Friends does not include remote access privileges to the library's electronic resources, nor does membership include use of restricted computers or printing services. Note that membership in the Friends organization is tied to the college's fiscal year, which ends June 30, and borrowing privileges expire on June 30 regardless of when the contribution is made. Information on the Friends is available at http://sites.lafayette.edu/friendsofskillman/.
Current faculty and students at LVAIC institutions may borrow materials with their valid college ID, but privileges do not extend to use of restricted computers or the campus wireless network. LVAIC faculty and students who wish to use Lafayette's electronic resources because their research need cannot be met with their home institution's resources should consult with a Lafayette reference librarian.
Children are welcome to accompany their parents to the library, but children 16 and under must be supervised by their parents at all times.
During times when Skillman Library is open 24 hours (typically the last 2-3 weeks of each semester), a valid Lafayette ID is required to enter or remain in the building between 11:00 pm and 8:00 am. Visitors are otherwise welcome at all times the library is open.
