We are now live with the new OneSearch (also known as EBSCO Discovery Service or EDS) User Interface. The content and most of the functionality included remains the same, but the look and feel are significantly different. Some of the major changes include:
- Download PDF and Full Text Finder (as well as Open Access and other custom links) are now all collapsed under the “Access Options” button that is directly below each result.
- The filters that used to be on the left are now hidden by default. To access them, click on “All filters” at the top of a search results page, and the filter options will appear on the right hand side of the page.
- Abstracts are now only available in full on an article’s details page (i.e. no more magnifying glass icon to show the full thing). Further, when you click into a result page, the abstract/description is buried a bit of the way down the page.
- URLs are now all be stable. If you copy a URL for a particular article, that will remain available indefinitely, as opposed to before where the URL in the address bar would time out. No more need to use the “permalink” feature (which is in fact no longer available, for this reason).
EBSCO has created a 5-min video introducing the new UI. In addition, please feel free to reach out to Ben Jahre with any questions.
