There have been a lot of changes to Skillman Library this summer! Below are a few changes you may notice during your first days and weeks back. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do!

  • Additional power outlets and seating on the main and upper levels
    • These additional power outlets run along the benches on the first floor (main level) and second floor (upper level) of Skillman Library and are able to charge a total of 90 devices! Additionally, tables and chairs have been added to the first floor (main level) bench to allow for more functional seating.

Private Study Booth (Lower Level)

  • Private study booth in the lower level
    • Thanks to a collaboration with the Counseling Center, the Library was able to add a private study booth to our space and reservation system. This private study booth has white noise to dampen ambient sound and integrated power outlets to charge your devices. While it’s not sound proof, it provides a similar level of privacy to the existing study rooms. It can be booked (just like a study room!) through LibCal and is located on Skillman’s lower level near room 004.
  • New glassboards in all upper level study rooms
    • We have replaced all the white boards on the second floor (upper level) with new, larger glass boards. These leave less residue behind and provide a larger surface area to cram in all your notes!
  • Faculty Book Publications Display
    • The Browsing Area of Skillman Library (near the main entrance and the Tech Lounge) now has a display dedicated to recently published books by faculty. Featuring books published by Lafayette College faculty in the last few years, all items on the shelf are available to check-out for up to one semester.
  • New rolling whiteboards in the lower level
    • Near room 004, you’ll find two rolling white boards and lots of group study space at tables with integrated charging ports. These white boards will allow for additional flexibility in the use of public study areas.
