With support from the Lehigh Valley Engaged Humanities Consortium, generously funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, Digital Repository Librarian Nora Zimmerman and College Archivist Elaine Stomber facilitated the digitization, transcription, and ingestion of the Richard Sharpless Industrial Worker Oral History Collection into the LVEHC Digital Archive. The collection of interviews with local manufacturing, steel, textile, and mining industry workers were originally conducted by Dr. Richard Sharpless in the early 1990s. The original tapes of the interviews are held in Lafayette College Archives & Special Collections. Nora and Elaine worked together, and with DSS Student Assistants, to ensure that the interviews were converted from vulnerable physical media to durable digital formats that are now publicly accessible via the digital archive. Congratulations, Nora and Elaine! Read their reflection on their exciting project here.
