Please join the Lafayette College Libraries Digital Humanities Community of Practice Thursday, February 23 at noon for a panel discussion featuring Laf grads who did digital scholarship work at Lafayette College Libraries as students.  Panelists Xavier Walker ’22 and Daniel Gonzalez ‘20 will discuss how these experiences shaped their current career trajectories.  Facilitated by Janna Avon, Digital Initiatives Librarian.

Join by Zoom.

Xavier Walker ’22 currently works as a Community Archives Fellow, a joint position with the Billie Holiday Center for Liberation Arts and Sheridan Libraries of Johns Hopkins University. Prior to starting this position he graduated from Lafayette where he studied English and Women’s, Gender, & Sexuality Studies. While at Lafayette, Xavier worked as DSS Student Assistant, proudly led the ABC Archives Project, and often would be found in Skillman anytime he wasn’t in class.

Daniel Gonzalez ‘20 is originally from Colombia but residing in New Haven, CT. He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Environmental Management at Yale’s School of the Environment, specializing in Business and Technology. During his time at Lafayette, he spent a lot of time at Skillman Library with all the digital humanities practitioners and librarians and definitely doesn’t regret it! Digital Humanities helped him to narrow down his own story and career path. It expanded the opportunities of what he thought was possible, especially in terms of data collection, analysis, and visualization.
